Market Research - Low End

Supre is a low end store. It is separated into two sections: Supre and Sporte. The Supre brand has a variety of casual and party clothing, and the Sporte brand has a variety of sportswear and plain, versatile, basic clothing in a variety of colours. It seems to be aimed mainly at teenagers, but I can see some of the styles within the store appealing to a wider market.

What the store looks like :

  • Clothing manufactured in China
  • Size range : XXXS-L
  • Price range : $10-95
  • Lower quality fabric, fastenings and embellishments
  • Huge amounts of stock
  • Many sizes of each item on the rack
  • Store set out like a department store with clothing on the walls, floor racks and jumper tables
  • Simple decor - main decoration created by changing coloured lights and posters
  • Changing rooms are locked - you need to be let in by a sales assistant, and the number of items you take in are counted
  • Set out in a way customers require less help from staff (all clothing on racks at a height that can be easily reached, huge range of sizes available, obvious place to leave unwanted clothes)
  • About 4-5 staff working in different areas throughout the store
  • Little customer service
  • Busy - lots of customers shopping
  • Inconsistency in sizes between different styles
  • Less tailored garments
  • Bag checking performed when leaving
  • Techno / remixes of popular music being played
  • Messy - clothing on the racks is tangled up in each other and some of the floor racks block the clothing displayed on the walls so they aren't fully in view
  • Lots of plain, versatile garments / necessity garments
  • Chain store with countless branches throughout NZ
  • Weak plastic coat hangers and generic swing tags
